Pat Hauldren

Howdy! Welcome to my website.

I’m a writer and I enjoy writing Speculative Fiction. I think that comes from growing up in rural Texas with lots of land and strange stuff to explore.

My family is from the Appalachia’s. A whole different world away. I really enjoy delving into history–the history of where I grew up, the history of where my parents and grandparents lived, just plain history–and it’s all fodder for my stories.

I’ve worked a variety of jobs throughout my life and have never, ever been at a loss for work. I’ve worked at my parent’s fruit stand, been a grease monkey when my dad was racing stock and modified stock locally, hung insulation & sheetrock, sold vacuums (hated that!), been an electronic technician, and retired as a Quality Assurance Manager. Then, my second career took off as a freelance editor, web designer, graphic artist, ghost writer, writing instructor, virtual assistant, proofreader, copyeditor.

Once I realized my books just weren’t getting written for all the work, I finally quit. Now I’m a full-time writer, super broke, and loving it. 🙂

My hobbies are watching Dallas Stars hockey, puttering with pottery (won an HM at the State Fair of Texas! yay, me), armchair tennis teetotaller, travel (The Netherlands is my 2nd home), foster dogs with Cody’s Friends Rescue, talking writing, and of course, a rabid reader from way back.

I'm an award-winning author of stuff.

Contests and workshops and conferences are how I work to keep my skills sharp and constantly improving. And I never stop learning. (still working on finding everything!)

While I do my own art by hand, I don’t avoid digital art nor AI. They are all tools of the trade.

I dabble in grahic design, photography, ceramics, sketching, well, just about anything arty.
